This attached RADIO INK
article is the dirty little secret that no radio exec will ever admit. It took
a guy from Dodge City, Kansas to expose this one? And I'm not talking about
'Marshall Dillon' either. Waitt/GM/Jeff Ogden's "It's All about Traffic"
has it so right it's scary. Local radio's mediocre spot production(not to mention
it's spot overload)simply does NOT motivate listeners to go into a store, says
Ogden. Something alot of us have known for years.
'Bad Spots' don't keep listeners
away from our client remotes. Rewards are part of their personal economy and
if the station sounds good and the prizes are desireable, these listeners are
going to partner with the station whenever there is value for them. Fact is,
this group will go to a swamp in droves..............................if the
points and the offer is right!
Should radio stations begin
immediately to upgrade their production departments? (Without a doubt) Is this
a battle that we'll engage? (Not a chance!) We learned a long time ago, going
from good to great is a conscious choice. And if you can find a system that
will reduce clutter and out draw TV and newspaper for your clients..............................then
this attached article will mean nothing to you.
