Loyal ears offers a complete online
audio distribution model available to radio stations and
other media outlets who create content on a regular basis.
The site is fully customizable in terms of the visual style
and layout, as well as the features available to users.
User Features and Options
Browsing the Site:
Users on the site can search for audio
in a variety of ways. In addition to a standard search engine,
there's also the browse list, which can sort and display
all available audio by title, the show to which it belongs,
the date produced, the user rating or the file's popularity
(number of downloads.)
Manage your audio:
The Audio Manager control panel gives users the ability
to review any audio they've listened to or downloaded in
the last 90 days. If the user has paid for a file, they
will be able to re-download their purchase through the audio
manager up to 3 times in that 90 day period (from the computer
through which they made their purchase).
Vote for an audio file, show, or artist - Users can rate
any or all of the content on the site using a 5-star system.
Can be configured for registered users only, and with a
limit on the number of votes per any one item (1 is the
default).
Leave comments about
an audio file, show or artist:
Users can leave feedback about any or all content items
on the site. All input is monitored to avoid inappropriate
or offensive materials from being published. Can be configured
for registered users only, and with a limit on the number
of comments per any one item (1 is the default).
Upload a podcast:
Users have the ability to upload an audio file for possible
inclusion in part of your programming. Links to uploaded
files are sent via email to a designated ___ at your station
for review and download. This option is available to registered
users only. Can be configured to limit the size, format
and duration of the file.
Send in a playlist:
Users have the ability to create a playlist of their favorite
tunes and share it with other users or send it to your station
as part of a promotional offer. Can be configured to limit
the number of playlists each user can created (default is
5) and the number of tunes per list (default is 10).
Audio Options
Your audio engineers will have the choice of a variety of
sound and encoding formats including WAV, MP3, and WMA,
with compression available on the fly in a variety of formats
and bit rates.
When designing your podcasting site, you'll
have the opportunity to structure your show formats in a
variety of ways. The site is structured in either a 2- or
3-tier format, with your audio files making up the bottom
tier:
Category
Sub-Category (3-tier)
Audio Files
The 2-tier system is fairly straightforward,
with your station's shows serving as the Category definitions.
The 3-tiered system allows for more flexibility when it
comes to organizing your audio and offering different collections
of content.
For example, your station's morning show can create multiple
online podcast 'shows' that include audio directed towards
particular audiences.
Every tier has its own RSS feed. Any time a piece of audio
is added to a particular category or sub-category, the RSS
feed is automatically updated to include this new file.
Pieces of audio can be classified, or
'tagged', in a variety of ways. They can be tagged as belonging
to one or many particular genres, they can be associated
with particular DJs or talent via the 'artist' designation,
they can be linked to shows from your station or to new
shows you've created online. This means a visitor to your
site is more likely to find what they're looking for.
